Dreamweaver

To work locally on a new website:

  1. Unzip the downloaded templates to a location on your computer or shared network where you would like to work on them.
  2. Launch Dreamweaver
  3. In the top menu strip, choose "Site."
  4. Name your site. You can skip the http:// address for now if you like.
  5. Choose "no" on the server technology question unless you know you are using one.
  6. Choose "Edit local copies..." and choose the location where you placed your downloaded templates.
  7. How do you connect to your remote server? Choose none for now.

When you are ready to put your site on a server:

Later, when you have a test or launch environment set up with the CIO's office (or wherever you will have your website hosted) you can re-configure the site by:

  1. Choosing "Site" in the top menu strip
  2. Choose "Manage Site" and look for the name you have for this site if you manage more than one
  3. Choose "Edit"
  4. This time, you will want to enter in your HTTP Address (http://hugyourdog.idaho.gov)
  5. And when it asks you how you connect, choose FTP. Provide the information sent to you from the CIO's office (or your host).
