The Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security is the lead state agency for coordinating mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery operations in support of the State's local governments dealing with the effects of natural and man-caused disasters, including terrorism and the potential use of weapons of mass destruction.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is responsible for planning, preparing and conducting operations in support of local State governments dealing with chemical and biological effects on humans. As the agency's Administrator, Richard Schultz coordinates preparedness activities with public health and health care systems throughout the state. He also administers the Public Health Preparedness Cooperative Agreement as well as the Hospital Preparedness Cooperative Agreement.
The Idaho Department of Agriculture is charged with planning, preparing, and conducting operations in support of local State governments dealing with the effects of terrorism on agriculture and livestock.
The Idaho State Police is the lead state agency for Homeland Security issues dealing with criminal activity and terrorism.
